Our Work

HOW WE TAKE ACTION

Children don’t have rights in a developing country like India. Everyone, including the children, works hard for everything. Simple things like water, shelter, and education can be difficult to access so the idea of having a happy childhood can be near impossible. At LIGHT, not only do we take care of the simple things, but we are here to give destitute children back their innocence and teach them how to shine.

India’s caste system is alive and well. It’s keeps millions or children trapped in social and physical bondage. Being born into the ST cast (untouchable) or worse, being born with HIV AIDS, guarantees poverty. The invisible ceiling is nearly impossible to break through. With support it is possible.

LIGHT Partnership builds two different types of  structures within India. The first is residential vocational centers for children that age out of the orphanage system. These children range between fourteen and twenty years of age and are mostly HIV positive.

The second is a home for children four to fourteen years old. The home is aimed at welcoming in children in distress. Our aim is to create a warm loving family environment that allows the child to grow up without the constraints of institutional living.

Our care givers and volunteers help supply vocational and life-skill training in the homes we build. We believe in re-writing the narrative for the children. We raise all our children to believe that they are empowered and destined to overcome!

Our home in India also has support from local villages and technical colleges. These local governments and schools play a large role in the education of the children. LIGHT Partnership is committed to standing with every child in our care as they transition to become a vital member of society.
